Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 7, 2026

Newlo is a social discovery app that helps people meet others, find places, and settle into a city. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices you have. Newlo is not a dating app and is intended for people 18 and older.

Information you give us

  • Account details — name, email address, and the sign-in method you choose (Apple, Google, or email).
  • Profile content — birthday, city, neighborhood, bio, prompt answers, interests, what you're looking for, and any photos or short video clips you upload.
  • Social handles — optional links to Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, or X, shown only if you add them.
  • Messages and plans — the content of messages you send to connections and plans you create or join.

Information we collect automatically

  • Approximate location — used to show nearby people, places, and things to do. Your precise coordinates are never shown to other users; we display an offset, approximate area on the map.
  • Usage and device data — basic app interaction, crash, and performance data used to keep Newlo working.

How we use your information

  • Suggest people, places, events, and plans that fit your interests and city.
  • Enable connection requests, messaging, and plans between users.
  • Keep the community safe by handling blocks, reports, and abuse.
  • Improve features, fix bugs, and secure the service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your messages for advertising.

What other people can see

Other users can see only your public profile: first name, approximate age, city or neighborhood, bio, prompt answers, interests, what you're looking for, your photos or clips, and any social handles you choose to add.

Your email address, birthday, exact location, and account identifiers are never visible to other users.

Your controls

  • Ghost Mode — hide your profile from discovery and the map at any time.
  • Visibility toggles — choose whether to show your hometown or work/school.
  • Block and report — block any user or report content that breaks our rules.
  • Edit or delete — update your profile any time, or delete your account and its data from Settings.

Third-party services

We use trusted providers to run Newlo: our hosting and database provider (account, profile, message, and media storage), Google Maps Platform (maps and place information), and Apple and Google for optional sign-in. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security commitments.

Data retention and security

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, photos, clips, and messages are removed from our systems, except where we must retain limited records for safety or legal reasons. Data is encrypted in transit and protected by row-level access rules so users can only reach data they're allowed to see.

Children

Newlo is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we delete the account.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing. Contact us and we'll respond within the time required by law.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if our practices change and revise the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be announced in the app.
